A competition as a way of preparing for the Dakar
He successfully concluded the second edition of the 1,000 Raid Dunes. On the last day of competition the stage between Almería and Torrenueva was played, and then the neutralized crossing to Granada took place to proceed to the delivery of prizes to the winners of each category.
An extreme race resulted, which has demanded a lot from both the pilots and the organization. No major incident was recorded. The issue of security is paramount in this type of tests. There were stages that could not finish any pilot because of the hardness of the route. In the elite category, in which there were pilots who have finished in the top five of the Dakar, they could not even conclude that tough stage. For them it was a very good training race for their participation in the Dakar.
Joan Pedrero, who was already leading the classification from the early stages, was the final winner in the elite raiders category. Jaume Betriu was the second classified and third was the Granada-born Juan Jesús Sánchez Recio. In that same order they were also before starting the stage timed by teams of three pilots between Almería and Torrenueva. They had previously shipped from Nador.
