John was once again one of the most outstanding riders of the Moto3 category during the practices. He lost some positions in the first lap of the race. After the first third he was placed in the second group fighting for the tenth place and finally got the two points of the fourteenth place. After a good progress, Masaki, from the first to the second free practice session, the Japanese was one of those who suffered the most problems of the qualifying practice that took place in a difficult asphalt conditions because the track was drying and changing progressively. He lost some positions at the start of the race but made a positive recovery at the end. Makar Yurchenko as it happened to most of all young riders, the cancellation of all the FP3 practices on Saturday due to a storm was a serious problem for him because he needed time to get ready for the race. Despite this, on Sunday he progressed so well and, at the end he was just three places behind the points. Xavi Cardelús in the Grand Prix of the Americas was a real nightmare for the Andorran because his crash during the first free practice on Friday. He hit both hands and left hip. The pain and the problems for ride his bike safe and effective forced him to retirement after the first six laps of the race. The German rider Lukas Tulovic, continues his progress from race to race and consolidates himself in the difficult Moto2 World Championship. During practices he was faster than six of his direct rivals and the race went well, being 20th in the first round after recovering several places. From that moment, he gave up some position but at the end he set his most constant pace.
